I LOVE LOVE LOVE headbands. As I write this I am currently wearing a headband. I cannot help but wonder what my obsession with headbands is though. I can't tell if it is because they are easy, or because they pull my hair out of my face. Any way the case might be, I do love headbands.
From elastic to plastic, I have many different kinds of headbands. I have some that can be worn as scarves or headbands, some that are "blingged" out, and some that are just regular old school headbands. What I have discovered however, is that I do prefer headbands that are stretchy and not super tight. If they are too tight I develop a headache, which is never good.
Headbands can also be worn several different ways. They can be worn right where your hair line meets your forehead, pushed back with some bangs in front, or even over the hair as many hippies wore in the 60's. I don't think that headbands will ever go out of style, they are just too convenient for many women.

Curlers in my Hair
When I was a little girl my mom used to put sponge rollers in my hair, right after I showered, and I would have to sleep with them in over night. Not only was this uncomfortable, when the curlers came out the next morning I looked like Shirley Temple. I know she is cute and all, but I would have much rather had a more lose curl.
As I have gotten older, I have began to use hot rollers. Hot rollers make my hair curly, but it is a pretty flowy curl. It is not suction cupped to my head, which I prefer. Although hot curlers can be potentially hazardous because of how hot they are, if you use caution while using them, they are perfect.
Anyone else use hot curlers, if so what do you think?

Shampoo
Ever wonder what kind of shampoo you should use? I often wonder if the more expensive shampoos are actually doing more for your hair, or if they are just another way for these companies to make more money. A good shampoo is supposed to get rid of oils, dirt, and dandruff and also make your hair smell good. The goal is to remove unwanted build up of these things without damaging your hair. If it gets damaged it can cause split ends. When you have enough split ends they become visible.
If you have finer hair, a shampoo that adds volume is best. It gives your hair more body and volume and allows you do style your hair in more ways. One of my good friends has the most beautiful curly hair, however, it is very hard to maintain. Along with many other styling products, she has to use shampoo especially for curly hair.
Personally, I think that it there are certain shampoos that work better for certain hair types, but you do not need to spend $20 dollars or more on one bottle. I think that is unnecessary, what do you think?

Liquid vs Pencil
Eyeliner is a great way to enhance your eyes. No matter the type of eyeliner you use, it should only be applied to the outer rim of the eyelid. Applying it too far into the inside may cause irritation, infection, etc.
Liquid eyeliner lasts longer. Pull your eye so it is slightly stretched, close one eye and be careful not to squint or wrinkle your eyelid. Start the liquid eyeliner right before the inner corner of the eye. Once you have finished lining your eyes you have to make sure to let the eyeliner dry. I tend to prefer liquid eyeliner because it is very hard to smudge once it dries.
A pencil eyeliner is much different. They tend to smudge easier, however, applying it can be easier and there are more ways. Smudging the eyeliner with the other side of the pencil can make the eyeliner appear nicer and more well done. I also use pencil eyeliner, but I use it on more of a day-to-day basis.

Playing With Fire
Red lipstick is one of my favorite colors to wear. Although I do not wear it all that often, i do enjoy wearing it. But suddenly, a bright orange lip color is startying to look super fresh. On the runway at Giambattista Valli’s spring 2010 show (and on the red carpet), tangerine lips had the sexy oomph of scarlet but with an off kilter.
Red and orange lips can be rather tricky to do, however. With such a bright color, you need to make sure to get a matching lipliner. Lipliner is great because it help prevent the lipstick from leaking onto the little cracks and crevices surrounding your lips. Also, it is very important to blot your lipstick. Blotting will help to prevent you looking like a grandma with lipstick on her teeth.

Halloween Makeup and Hair

Last night I celebrated Halloween as Wilma Flintstone. I began my costume by puting my hair into a pony-tail. From there I began bobby pinning it around the pony-tail so that it would be up, similar to how Wilma wore here hair on the show. After I finally got it all pinned up I proceeded to hair spray it followed by red hair spray. This was a little tricky because I did not want to get it all over my face and neck but tying a towel around my neck helped.
Finally came the makeup. I did more natural colors with a brown eyeliner. My costume as Wilma Flintstone turned out better than I thought it would. I guess what I am trying to say is that no matter how you do your makeup and your hair on Halloween, just have fun with it. Afterall, it is a holiday for fun, so just have fun with your costumes.

A Campaign for Real Beauty
A couple of years ago Dove started a campaign. The Dove Campaign for Real Beauty is a global effort that is intended to serve as a starting point for societal change. This campaign was started to let real women know that they are perfect and beautiful just the way they are.
The campaign has done a great job of spreading the word. There are commercials and advertisements everywhere you look. It shows us that sometimes the media plays a negatice role in our lives. I believe natural beauty is the best, and that no matter what, everyone is beautiful.
This is a great video that shows it starts when we are young--http://www.dove.us/#/cfrb/. Dove is really doing a great thing for young people everywhere. It gives young people hope and excitement and most of all self esteem.
